Cyberbullying #EnglishEssayWriting

Cyberbullying

For as long as we can remember, it was not long ago that most people did not even have a computer or laptop in their own homes. Just take a look at the generation before the 21st century, computers/laptops were unheard and internet did not exist for average people. Today, computers & laptops are in just about everywhere, giving people especially the young ones access to technology they have never had before. From the look of it, this is a useful tool to help them grow and learn, however, it is also a dangerous element that can lead to bullying that can have a negative impact on life. Surely, bullying is not something new, but it has certainly changed over the years. In the past, children were often bullied at school or in the neighborhood. Today, with the increased use of internet and social media, children are now being bullied in all locations, at all times. That just goes to indicate that social media bullying is a step worse than the traditional one for it can lead to a more negative impact on life than a traditional one can do. The words social media bullying have been shouted so much and very loudly now that it is heard in all over the world, the only reason behind it is because it is happening in more places than ever before meaning it has become a big issue. Children need to live a normal life and develop into fully-functional adults without being bullied. So the act of social media bullying must be stopped but since it will take a lot of hard work and time to do to really stop it completely, we all can try to at least prevent it ; from the role of parents, teachers and above these two is, our own selves.
Social media is one of the most used types of websites by teenagers. And as for social media bullying which best known as cyberbullying can include posting negative comments on pictures/posts, posting abusive posts on a user’s wall and using pictures or videos to make fun of another user. The impacts are a lot of things from the decreasing of self-esteem, self-confidence, to the worst is, suicide. Now that cyberbullying has really become a big issue of a problem. As for that matter, the role of parents is important here for they are actually the one children can turn to when they have problems whatsoever, besides parents are also those who understand their children better and can take a good control of them. Parents on this issue are to make sure that their children are not a victim or the one who does cyberbullying. Parents should be well aware of this issue and keep an eye out for their children by having a good bond of a relationship with them. For instance, is by engaging occasional conversations about how things are going with their children online and offline. From that, parents can see if their children are the victims of cyberbullying or the ones who take part of cyberbullying. Children might not just give the answer away but even then, parents can draw out a conclusion from their answers. For example is try to ask children about what they know of cyberbullying, who have experienced it and what would they do if they were cyberbullied. If their answers are no where near convincing, it may be a sign that the children need extra support from the parents in terms of helping him or her strengthen the self-confidence that might have been shaken and restore a sense of physical and emotional safety. But the ultimate goal of the occasional conversations after all is the regaining of restored self-respect and others-respect so that they know better not to do cyberbullying if they are a part of it or so that they know how to handle things if they are cyberbullied. However, this won’t work if the children are not so much of an open up person nor are they type to listen and have chit chats with their parents. Not to mention, if the parents are not ones to talk to their children or worse part is if the parents have no idea at all about the issue so this absolutely won’t work.

However, in actuality, it is not only the role of parents that is in work in preventing cyberbullying but also teachers. Teachers, as those whom children listen or face the most in a day because half of their day is spent in school, should give knowledge about social media bullying to their students, its bad effect and its inappropriateness of an act to have/do. So when the role of parents does not seem to be right, there is still the role of teachers. Besides, it is not so much of a difference about the effects it causes. When these young people are given the knowledge about cyberbullying even if they are already familiar with it, they will get the sense that cyberbullying is not a choice about to do or not to do it but it is more about the fact that it is just not an act to do nor to have, ever. But then again, not every student would listen to their teachers nor would what they say get to them.

In the end, preventing the act of bullying turns down on ourselves or handling things when cyberbullying seems to come to ourselves also turns down on ourselves. We are the one to decide over the act but one thing is needed to be remembered is that we should be well aware that things on social media should not always be taken seriously because after all it is just a social media, we can always ignore it. And most importantly, we should be well aware of self-respect and others-respect and that is good enough to stop anyone from doing bullying or handling things when being bullied for that matter. On the other hand, self-respect and others-respect can be achieved from the goal of parents’ role. And when these young people know how to stand up for themselves when being bullied they will automatically get the sense to also stand up for others. Real examples of cyberbullying are everywhere to be found and from all those many examples, we can take a look at what happened with Carri Keill, 18, the writer of Huffington Post magazine. She has a big sized body and is beautiful in her own way and she had never been judged by her peers about her appearance in real life because people know how good she actually is of a person and that she is a good writer. Instead, she said that she judged people because of their lack of writing ability without she even realized it. Apparently, once when she posted an article on HPM where her picture was being showed right under the article, the comments on the comment bar turned out to be nothing about the article she wrote but about her appearance instead. The comments kept on coming that it really got to her that she did not want to write again but her parents were fast to notice so she could get out of the problem by facing it together with them. Finally she wrote an article again the next couple of weeks after the last one about cyberbullying. She hoped that her article could help and inspire others and it apparently really did. The other example comes from a Canadian singer, Justin Bieber, he was a victim of bullying when he was not famous and when he is famous and has become very successful, he decided to be a part of an online application that goes against cyberbullying known as Shots with the support of his family and friends. In addition, actually there are still a lot of examples out there about cyberbullying and how to prevent and handle it.

That is, cyberbullying has possibilities to be stopped by preventing it to happen first. Also, how to handle things about cyberbullying should be acknowledged and owned by everyone. For this reason, the role of parents, teachers and above this two is our own selves are needed to help young people handle any issues that come their way. As in what has been mentioned above, parents should be well aware of this issue and keep an eye out for their children by having a good bond of a relationship with them while teachers should give knowledge about social media bullying to their students. However, preventing the act of bullying turns down on ourselves at the end. We are the one to decide over the act but the thing is that we should be well aware of self-respect and others-respect which come from the role of parents. That is, in order to make this work, the role of parents must be achieved first and then it will affect the children that it would finally lead to a stop of cyberbullying.

Generation Demoralized #EnglishEssayWriting

Generation Demoralized

Young generation is all that is about in the future. In other words, young generation actually has such a great deal to bear for the future because what is in the future is in their hands. Today’s generation is the world’s young generation that they should carry great qualities not only for the benefit of them but also for the benefit of the future. These great qualities are actually right there in every person’s being but it is about carrying them until today and knowing on how to implement them that really matters. Then, what are these great qualities that every being has been carrying since the very early of their lives, especially those in the generation of today knowing that the generation of today is not like any other generations before?. Our young generation of today has both good qualities and some deficiencies in them. This generation possesses a series of understandings and emotions that the previous generations did not possess. In the previous generations, the thoughts and minds of the people were not as opened as the generation of today. These emotions and qualities were not present in the people of the past. At the same time, they also have some corrupt thoughts and negative ethical traits. Then again, every generation believes that the generation before was too rigid and conservative and the generation after is too wild and out of control. This has led to the belief that there is a moral crisis happening to the youth of today. Nowadays, it seems to be a hard task that the youth are facing especially with the more modern era, with all the developing stuff from technology and media. Now, it seems to be demoralization is in every aspect of life especially in the the young generation. That is, the writer believes that there is a serious demoralization case bombarding the youth of today that should be taken into consideration to be such a serious case of attention only then it can be prevented or even better, be stopped completely.
Fisrt, can be seen as what happened at UMSU, it is reported that a university student, a girl, murdered her lecturer. The huge question is what kind of desire that had driven that girl to have the nerve to murder someone, let alone her own lecturer? There
is obviously something really wrong that has to do with the girl’s morals and traits that have been directed to the wrong path. If the case is analyzed closely, I think such incident happened because the doer has beared corrupt thoughts and negative ethical traits for so long that it got to the point where the doer could not take it anymore ending up doing something that is believed, especially in the eyes of the old, to be wild and out of control. Such incident just goes to show that there is indeed a moral crisis happening to this generation of today.
Second, there is also a hot-from-the-open-news that has been going around in society about sexial abuse done by under age people that has caught a huge attention. The cases are about a murder of a lecturer by the lecturer’s student at UMSU, a sexual abuse towards a junior high school student by fourteen boys in Bengkulu, and a sexual abuse towards a junior high school student by eight boys in Surabaya. These two cases are not much of a difference with the previous case mentioned above. In all actuality, I really think that such cases are just like a confirmation to what has been tossing around in society that there really is indeed what is called as generation demoralized, a confirmation that the generation of today does bear corrupt thoughts and negative ethical traits with them, that the generation of today is too wild and out of control, that the belief of the generation before was too rigid and conservative might be close to a fact.
Morality is a set of values against what is improper. These morals are essential and are a physical part of every child. So, basically every child has morals in themselves but just as what has been revealed above that it is about carrying those qualities and knowing how to implement them that really matters. But then again, there is also one important thing which is not more important above the others or the other way around, it is about directing those qualities to the right path. Because if those qualities are not directed then that would be of no use and just like that, if those qualities are directed to the wrong direction then that would be disaster that would lead to negative morality and ethical traits. Demoralization in the youth nowadays seems to be really obvious that it causes such a shame to those who know the news. It is not only a shame for the parents but also to all the society too. Moral degradation that seems to be happening to the generation of today is just like a wake up calling that the morals in the youth are not
directed properly nowadays. This is, of course, saddening and perplexing to everyone especially with all the news that have been making appearances on tv, newspaper, social media, etc. Looking at what is currently going on in society, I strongly believe that there really is a serious demoralization case bombarding the youth of today that it is a must for us all to do something about it. Also, I do believe demoralization in the youth must be turned around in the classroom, through parenting, and in our community before this case of generation demoralized becomes a horrible massacre.

Young Generation And Hedonism #EnglishEssayWriting

The Hedonism Phenomenon towards the Youth

World has been lived by its people for over a billion years and just like that, the era has been not only just passed, but also developing. For all those years that have passed, both the world and the people have been going nowhere but becoming more developed in a lot of things, from the way of thinking to the lifestyle too. That is, the world and its people would be in a stage of a modern life in every era that has passed. Every era that has been passed, they would be in a higher level of a modern life than before. Meanwhile, while talking about the people that live the world then there would be the separation line that lies between those people from the old generation and those people from the young generation. In today’s society, we are in need of both generations to contribute in some ways. The younger generation brings questions, challenges, and sparks change for the future. Whereas the old generation sets limits and breaks, provides wisdom and experience. That is to say, young generation has a big role for the future. Because the well being of a nation begins with the development of its younger generation. Due to the fact that young generation builds the future of a nation specifically and of the future face of the world generally, there will always be a tons of stuff that can be taken into concerns for a discussion. All this stuff come from all the possible issues from the young generation itself, from the general and famous ones to the ones that do not get so much attention. Then that would go without saying that the writer would narrow down the discussion to be on focus about the young generation and the infamous hedonism. This is due to the fact that this is what has been tossing around in general public, in fact it is sort of like a phenomenon for the young generation that is needed to be taken seriously for it won’t give justice for the future face of the world. That is, there is no good that comes out of the young generation and hedonism, specifically when it is in the perspective of the psychological side and economical side.
Before going deeper into the topic of young generation and hedonism, it is wise to note that from Cambridge dictionary, young refers to something living, or in this very case is human being, at an early stage of development or existence ; not old. While generation refers to all the people of about the same age within a society or within a particular family, or the usual period of time from a person’s birth to the birth of his or her children. And then there is hedonism which refers to living and behaving in ways that mean one gets as much pleasure out of life as possible, according to the belief that the most important thing in life is to enjoy him/herself. Having said that, young generation and hedonism phenomenon are about the young people who seek to live a life with as much pleasure as possible. Ironically, like what has been revealed here that this has already become a phenomenon in the life of the young generation even though not all of it included but still this has become a lifestyle to this generation of the future. Speaking about hedonism, the facts in the field even revealed that nowadays it is not just the issue for the young generation because it also happens in the older generation who are by all mean expected to have known better (Clive Martin, 2014). That is, the older generation cannot take hedonism as they should have been able to so what makes a guarantee that the young generation would be able to take the issue? In fact, it is claimed that the majority of the young generation does love to seek pleasure instead of pressure knowing for the fact that young people are driven by an unexplainable kind of nerves and enthusiasm that can easily trigger hedonism.
It is already obvious that hedonism brings nothing besides the feeling to get more and more pleasure, if there were many obstacles or as such, they would not be able to take it. This goes without saying that this is what the psychological aspect deals with the effect of hedonism. When one has this character of hedonism, they will do things not for the sake of how good and beneficial the possibility it can turn out to be, rather it will be just about the pleasure out of it. On the other hand, there is an ambiguity for the words that these hedonism people will do things only for the sake of the pleasure. Firstly, that would mean that one would just do things where they are just the comfort zone of them which mean they would not try anything new, too afraid to know any possibility that will come out of it. Because they seek for pleasure, the possible pain of the result of trying something new would not be bearable to them. Secondly, that would mean that a hedonist can do just about everything they want as long as there is the pleasure that comes along by doing it. So, that includes doing new things, while this sounds very positive and goes against the first idea of a hedonist, this is actually just the same which is just about the hedonism. Because after doing what they want to do, a hedonist would still be seeking for their pleasure. Either it is a success or a failure, they will do things, let’s just say, a celebration for it for the pleasure they feel the need to have. Unfortunately, because it is hedonism, thing as such would not be a motivation to do better next time, instead it will be just another celebration, they will get drawn into the ocean of having fun that their pleasure is the highest good. Either way, there is no good that comes out with the first or the second idea of a hedonist, because after all, all they seek for is pleasure. And by that, the psychological of a hedonist would not be balanced because they are just ready for the good not for both ; the good and the bad, for good means pleasure.
Dealing with hedonism, the young generation has actually been tied by hedonism itself. By that, hedonism is a lifestyle that has grown into the life of the young generation. This should be taken seriously because the young generation who brings hedonism as their character would have this belief that the most important thing in life is to enjoy his/herself. One example of a hedonistic thing is Color Run. Color Run has an advantage of bringing nothing but fun or pleasure to the one who does it. For instance, one takes selfies of themselves then upload them to their social media like facebook, twitter, instagram, shots, etc just to get responses from other people that they look stunning whatsoever that will bring them happiness because of the responses. When they do not get this response they hope to get, they won’t be happy about it at all ; talking about the psychological effect, they will do anything in their power to reach what they hope to get. Another example is that one would upload pictures of their belongings that have a tag on them saying that they cost an arm and a leg just to show the world that they have this stuff which not everyone has it. If they keep on doing this and do not try to put a stop on the action, the possibility of being broke is right there. Besides, at the end, this will automatically affect their economy.
It is clear then that Hedonism will not just affect the psychological aspect of the young generation who carries it but also the economy aspect. At the end of the day though, hedonism will always affect these two aspects among many other aspects. Because a hedonist would, of course, become a problem of someone’s psychological for he/she only longs for nothing but pleasure and a hedonist would always affect someone’s economy for most pleasure comes from money. Meanwhile, the future face of the world needs the young generation who is not only skilled but also who has a strong psychology so that it can maintain anything including, their own economy. To sum it all up, there is absolutely not a thing from being a hedonist worth the future face of the world and there is nothing that can be done but to put a stop to it.
